Nick, I was waiting for the prompt/s so I didn't have to do the work myself 😆
Note generators are hideous and I have tried several prompts others swear by, but... also hideous, for me. I occasionally hit on something I love when left to my own devices, but always feel like I have no stride with extracting the golden threads and doing it well. Keen to give your approach a whirl!
The best prompts for this are the ones that won’t work for anyone else. This is why I’ve been so unimpressed with all these note generation AI platforms. They just produce generic slop. That said… you’ve given me an idea for an upcoming post on how to create your own custom prompts for this task.
This is place where WriteStack by my friend @Orel can be really helpful. Sure it has a scheduling piece, but I find myself using the Notes Generator as an idea starter. WriteStack<Content<WriteStackAI<Notes Generator (link about midway down). This lets you choose how to generate Notes, including from your own content. It'll even place a link to your post, if you like.
I like the IDEA of WriteStack, but scheduling notes is easy to manage natively on the Substack app now...
Worse: (And this is just my opinion) the notes its AI generates are weapons-grade slop. Completely unusable. That said, maybe it's improved since I last tried it.
For $30+ month, spend the money on a Pro account on Claude and a nice lunch instead.

YES PLEASE!!! I am going to run your post through Claude shortly and see what I can create, I want to compare it to what you suggest now!
SO much generic slop, and incredibly literal - they cannot stand alone from the post. I have tried a couple and lasted all of five minutes with each.
